1948 Chevy Five Window Truck Body redo
Here is the dash ready for bead blasting.
The cab has been stripped of glass, door handel's, brackets, etc. I can now work on the firewall, cab floor, etc. to get the cab ready for bead blasting.
Here I am taking the Cab off of the frame
Here is the way I lifted the cab off of the frame using a motor host.
Here is the Cab setting on stands off of the frame.
The Right side rear fender in rework.
The Left rear fender in rework
Here are the two rear fenders ready for the final primmer and sand. Looking good.
The Left front fender is ready for sanding and primmer. There are some dents that need to be worked on. Sandblasting is required.
Here is the left front fender dents repaired primmer and ready for sanding. Now the right front fender.
Here is what is left of the floor boards. The right and left front corners had really bad rust and needed to be repaired. I had to cut away some of the kick plates on both sides too. They will be replaced when the new floor is installed. The fire wall is in good condition.
This is a shot of the right side looking in from the left door opening. The black looking stuff is an rust inhibitor.

I am Fitting the new floor boards and kick panels into position.
Another view of the floor and kick panels.
Here is a shot of the new floor and kick panels looking into the left door opening. The new floor is installed. I used a Direct Sheet Metal's floor kit. It is really nice kit and easy to install.
Here is the stock firewall. All holes have been filled waiting for the primmer, sanding, and color paint.
The left outside corn is cut and removed. I applied Doctor Rust to the inside before welding the new corner into place. This will seal the inside corner and protect from rusting more.
Her is the new left corner in place ready for welding. I used clamps to hold it in place as well as leaving a gap between the main body and corner patch to make the welding easier.
And another look at the left corner
Her is the right side before the corner was removed.
Here is the right side with the new corn welded in place and ready for fill and primmer.
The back of the cab ready for body fill and a lot of sanding.
The new Cowling is now in and ready for body fill and sanding.
The lower cowl has been replace as well as the air vent plugged.

The cowl and vent are done and the next step is sand and sand.

The back of the cab is ready for Primmer and sanding.

The cowl vent was shaved and filled with a patch.

The roof had a thin coat of body fill on it and sanded until all low spots are gone.
Here is another view of the roof with the right side ready for more sanding. The left side was competed soon after the right.
The Cab is now ready for several layers of Poly-Prime and a lot of block sanding with 220 sandpaper.
After several hours of working on dents I got the hood looking good. Now for Poly Prim and block sanding.
Hood being worked on. Lots of sanding.
The Hood with it's final seal epoxy prime. Ready for the ploy prime and finish sanding.
The Firewall is about ready for it's final seal epoxy prime. All holes are filled and smoothed out.
Pictures of the Hood coated with Poly Prime ready for block sanding.
Both Left and Right front fender also received their first Poly Prime coats and are ready for block sanding.

The pctures above show the progress of the body this summer. I have the cab ready for the final block sanding and preperation for paint.
